How to Enjoy Long Distance Flights

Long distance flights can cause you to become anxious, bored and irritated. So how can you tolerate it and make the trip enjoyable if you are forced to make a long distance travel? Let us discuss some ways here.

Making Your Long Distance Trip Enjoyable

1. Keep the following essential things with you when you have to travel long distance - magazines, books, crossword or sudoku puzzle. If you have a laptop then you can play games on it or get some work done.

2. If you have knitting or crochet hobby, then keep the necessary tools handy with you. You can spend lots of time on it without getting bored.

3. If you are a blogger or writer, then you can use this time to write some article and save it on your laptop. If you are not carrying laptop, then use the good old pen and paper.

4. Strike up a conversation with the person next to you. Utilize this time to gain new friends and improve your people skills by interacting with other people. If you are traveling with family or friends, then use this time to ask about each other's lives. Normally, we are so busy with our own work that we don't have time for casual chatting and listening to each others problems. So utilize this time and strengthen your relationships further.

5. Close your eyes and meditate for some time. Meditation has many health benefits. It is also useful for improving the clarity of our minds. We may not normally dedicate time for this, but while traveling we can get some meditation experience as well.

6. Use this spare time for planning ahead. You can prepare next week's schedule or plan about what you are going to do after you land down from the plane.

7. Keep yourself fresh by getting up and doing some walking every hour or so. You can even do some stretching or simple exercises while sitting. This is important to keep your blood circulation on the long flight. It can also help in preventing deep vein thrombosis, which can happen when the journey is long. But make sure that other people are not getting disturbed when you exercise while sitting.

8. Take naps in between to refresh yourself. This will provide you much needed rest and help you feel fresher than before.

Whatever book or magazine you are carrying, make sure that they are on topics which you find interesting.


3. Take a short nap - If you are a frequent traveler then get into the habit of taking a nap while sitting. This might come in very handy not only to pass away some time, but also to get much needed rest and regain your stamina for continuing with the journey.

4. Get some walking exercise - This is a very good idea. Why not utilize the time to get some walking exercises to keep yourself in shape. Walk up and down the hallway. When we are at home, we normally make many excuses about not having time to exercise. Why not get some now?

5. Use your laptop or mobile to pass time - If you are carrying a laptop with you, then you can check your mails, chat with friends, leave a message on twitter that you are stuck at the airport, write some article for your blog, check out your favorite sites, browse videos on youtube etc.

If you don't have an internet connection, then you can at least try to finish some office related work on your laptop. If nothing else, play some games on your laptop or mobile phone.
